Dear Friends of St. Jude,
As followers of Jesus in the Episcopal tradition, we believe in the dignity of every human being. We strive to remain apolitical at St. Jude; however, every once in a while there is a change in policy that greatly affects the dignity of every human being. Please see below about the new change of federal regulation by the current Administration.
This change gives permission for a physician or other healthcare provider to ignore her/his Hippocratic oath and deny life saving treatment to individuals simply because they are LGBT humans. According to statistics, it affects approximately 10% of the nation's citizens.
The Episcopal Church, and St. Jude (due to our longstanding policy of inclusion) believe this change of policy goes completely against everything Scripture teaches and everything basic human dignity demands.
This is inhumane, unChristian, unAmerican, and against our American core values.
We encourage you to stand on the side of respecting the dignity of every human being and join us in expressing outrage about the indignity of this regulation change. Please contact the President, your Senators, your Representative, your Governor, your local representatives, and your local media.
